Under the Dock Leaves

The first of my collection. Under the Dock Leaves: An Autumnal Evenings' Dream, 1878 by Richard Doyle. I absolutely love this one. Most people only see it as the usual print of scenery. I usually have to point out that the "flowers" are fairies. Its a truly magical print. Its not easy to find... you can buy the canvas print here.

Folder-junky chooses Blinklist

Alright. I confess. I prefer folders to tags.
I completely understand the value of tags and how they make finding your bookmarks so much easier, but as a Virgo I just prefer the orderly assemblage of folders.

But as a professional web surfer, I bookmark a LOT of sites. And Google bookmarks seemed so solitary and limited and "web 1.0". So I tried del.icio.us, reddit, tagtooga, netvous, stumbleupon, and many more, looking for the social bookmarking tagging site to which a folder-junky could adapt. I had two requirements:

1. I wanted to quickly bookmark sites using a toolbar button or (preferably) a right-click.
2. And I wanted those links to appear on my Blogger page automatically in CATEGORIZED lists.
   

Number 2 was imperative. I didn't want a scrolling list of all kinds of links in some generic linkroll. I was seeking organization my friends.

Blinklist is prettier than most. Appeals to my visual side. It's still tag-driven. But I didn't give up once I saw the Quick Start Page. Aha! Folders!!! And here was the key.

To bookmark items with Blinklist and show them on your blogger site as categorized lists:

1. In Blinklist - go to your Quick Start Page and "add a list". Name the list with the "tag" you want to assign those links. i.e. "wundermusik". Add a link to your Quick Start list.
2. In Blinklist - open your Quick Start Page list and click on the RSS icon to get the RSS URL. Copy this URL.
3. In your Blogger page, go to customize and Add a Feed.
4. Paste your BlinkList RSS URL into the Feed URL field. Give the Feed a name and save.

This will create a categorized list of links on your Blogger page. Whenever you find a new site to add, use the BlinkIt button (or right click on Blink This!) and make sure you use the tag that matches your Blinklist Quick Start Page list name.

This will automatically add your Blinklist items into categorized lists on your blogger page. It may take a few hours to show up on your blogger page, but it works! The only limitation is that it will only show the last 5 adds to your Quick Start Page list.

In Blogger - go to customize and add a FEED to your blogger page.

Also called Fontina Val d'Aosta after the Italian valley from which it comes, this is one of Italy's great cheeses. Semifirm yet creamy, fontina is a cow's-milk cheese with about 45 percent milk fat.
